Good Job Boys!

The 2007-2008 Season for the Club started with a bang as the three teams each collected points on their first day out. All three games were played on home turf in Fernwood this past Sunday.

At the crack of dawn (10 am), in the Masters B division Fernwood Dragons took down Bays United 3-1 with goals from Rob Elder,Matt Seeger, Doug Hartwell.

Then at high noon in the 5th Division, Fernwood United trounced the flower pickin' Van Treights 5-1, with an astounding trio of goals from new guy Rainey Becker as well as a goal a piece from James Haid and Jesse Beaudin.

Then shortly after 2 pm, in the 4th Division, Keeper Chris Jones and Fernwood Socialist gained a clean sheet , drawing with Prospect Lake Croatia 0-0.

Well done boys.

The Club for the Upcoming 2007-2008 Season

Hi all,

Welcome back to all of the returning players, and welcome to all of the new players of Socialist, United and the Dragons.

This year will be a fantastic year for the club. We now have this club site up and running, as well as sites for each of the teams. The linked sites will make it easier for each of the teams to connect with the others, and to keep up to date on the game results and players.

This year will also see more coordination from the club on practice schedules, player fees and events. Recently representatives of the teams have showed a keen interest in working with each other to ensure each of the teams are successful and sustainable. Each team still remains autonomous, however, within the club.

Also this year the club intends to take the steps toward becoming a registered society. We hope this will build our capacity in the long run, and will assist us in becoming recognized by the city, community organization and schools.

I would also like to thank outgoing President Bryan Skinner for his great work last year in bringing the teams together. Bryan's recent addition to the family of baby Fiona has forced him to drop the required amount of nights drinking with the team reps which goes with the position of Club President.

Please keep your eye out for Club fundraising events, and have a great year.

Edwardo May,
Fernwood Football Club Prez, 2007 - 2008
